Program: Tips on Reducing Our Household Waste & Proper Recycling Guidelines

Livia Charles will be presenting a program on what can and cannot be recycled, what to do with your plastic bags and other non-recyclable items, and general tips about how to reduce your household waste.  A primer on garden composting will also be provided.

Livia is the Sustainability Coordinator at Asheville GreenWorks where she helps to educate the Western North Carolina community about composting, recycling, and how to preserve and protect our planet through waste reduction. Livia deeply cares about nature and working with local communities to find just solutions to address the climate crisis.

She graduated from Tulane University in 2018 with a degree in neuroscience and has worked at several environmental nonprofit organizations since graduating. Right before working with GreenWorks she worked as a researcher at the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN), where she learned more about the intersection between environmental degradation, gender inequality, and racism.
