Program: Growing & Using Culinary Herbs
with Phil Roudebush

Herbs are commonly grown in gardens and containers for a variety of uses. This presentation will provide general information about growing and using herbs with a focus on those used for culinary purposes. Ideas about how to process and use culinary herbs year-round will also be discussed including recipes for making various types of herb pesto, vinegar, butter, rubs, and oils.
Phil is a native of Indiana and is a retired veterinarian. In the past, Phil enjoyed maintaining a large vegetable garden, herb garden, pumpkin patch, water garden, and a 30-acre native grass hay pasture. He was an Extension Master Gardener in Shawnee County, Kansas before moving to Asheville four years ago and is an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer in Buncombe County.
