The grass is calamagrostis (diamond grass), ‘Autumn Joy’ sedum, and the dried heads of hydrangea ‘Vaughn’s Lillie’. There’s also some catmint at the base.

Meeting October 14, 2014
We all enjoyed the lovely Ikebana program and demonstration by Suzanne Dillingham of Barnardsville.
Suzanne is a member of the Asheville Ikebana Chapter #74 and the Asheville Ichiyo Chapter. She has studied in the Ichiyo school for the past nine years and is a Junior Master Instructor. Prior to moving to North Carolina in 2002, she completed five years of studies in the traditional Ikebana school.
Gardening being her first love, she was happy to share with the Club how we can bridge our creativity in the garden with the Japanese art form of flower arranging known as Ikebana. She discussed the method and philosophy of Ikebana as she demonstrated the process of creating elegant floral arrangements with structure provided by natural objects mostly found around her property. These photos give only a hint of the beauty of this art form.
We will post on this website Suzanne’s classes when she gets them going.

Meeting September 9, 2014
The Weaverville Nature Park. We will start with a casual discussion of our summer: whether we stayed home to garden or took some interesting trips. Margaret McLeod will give a short history of the park, followed by a walk in the park itself, to take note of the progress in its development. We will then have our own celebration of the Club’s 40th anniversary, with a visit to the newly installed Dale Rogers sculpture, “Two Roads.”
We will meet at the regular time and location: 9:30 AM at the Weaverville Town Office/Hall Community Room, 30 South Main Street, Weaverville, NC 28787

Meeting June 10, 2014
Come to our final meeting of the year with a garden tour and picnic at the home of Annick . Bring a sun hat and sunglasses! Please come with your own lunch. Betty Jane will provide water bottles leftover from the Rummage sale … and she has plenty of good well water.
We will vote on next year’s officers and otherwise wrap up this amazing year.
We’ll meet at 9:30AM at the lower Townhall parking lot in order to carpool.
